I had surgery that did not go very well and have been battleing a sepic infection for over a month now. I expected the recover to be only 4 weeks and now it may go to somewere between 4 to 5 months. So I work when I can and answer my email as fast as I can. Such is life and then we go on. No big deal. Anyway I ran the Microsoft Product Support Report. I came back with a look of information which I just can not go over at the moment one thing that did stick out was the Product lic. I thought this may have been an issue about a month ago and called to make sure the system had the correct PID. Everything checked out so just to be on the safe side I reset the same lic number and the system shows it is an active product. However your reports show it to be inactive and there is an error in the bits, along with serveral other minor errors I am sure. I was not sure where I should send the information. Do to all the personal information the report provides I don't mind if someone from microsoft has access to it I just don't want it posted on an open form or as you suggested skydive. This can be accessed by anyone and I try to great care in garding my system information. I am sure you can understand. If you are an empoyee from microsoft do you have an email address I could sent this to?I will tag this to recieve a response from you so I do not have to post me email address here.Thank youfor your time.Sincerelyvirgoheart

Thank you for taking the time to responsed to my message. I knew that I had posted it to the wrong place but my question was locked so I didn't know what other way to contact you. I have followed your instructions and using the URL above I sent the MSP cab files. I am sure they will reach the correct department. If there is to much of a mess I have no problem reinstalling Windows 7, I would like to do it right this time. All I would need is some notice to back up my documents and any quick advice to the mistakes I made the first time.I belive the problems started after I installed Visual Studio 2008. I am running Office Ultimate 2007, and had installed .net 3.5 SDK then I installed Visual Studio 2008 and had planed to installed SQL 2008 Standard. However by this point I could tell that the verisons were not binding. I had tried a couple of suggestions I found on MSDN but soon gave up because it became to diffecult to tell which verisons and software was installed with VS 2008 and which were installed with .net 3.5 SDK. Of course as you know Office Ultimate comes with an express veriosn of both Visual Studio and SQL. In the end I belive it is most likely the method and planning the installation of each product in the correct order.Again I thank you for your kind reply,SincerelyVirgoheart

Hi Virgoheart, thank you for your update. I have got the MPS Report you uploaded and I would check them and also keep you updated. At this time, I still would like to know more information about the current status: 1. Could you please list your concerns and the issues what you encountered? 2. On the original thread, I have also provided some information based on your description; I just want to know if you have tried them and what the results are. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Hello Nicholas, I will do my very best at keeping this simple as possible. But in all honesty that isn't my best attribute so I will apologize in advance. Feel free to skip over all unnessary info.I run a small business in which I usea server running 2003 to manager a few small businesses. I also try very hard to read and work on all new Microsoft Products through Technet and MSDN. So I have a subscription with both. This enables me to sell, train, repair, both software and hardware for small businesses and personal systems. Currently due to my personal condition my son in law is managing the small business customers. So I felt I would take the time to dig deep into Windows 7 Ultimate or Business, Visual Studio 2008, SQL 2008. However after I installed the following in the order below: 1. Windows 7 Ultimate 2. Office Ultimate 2007 3. .Net framework SDK 3.5 for Windows 7 4. Visual Studio 2008. I found issues and events that lead me to believe that the versions were in conflict. So I didnt even try to install SQL 2008 Standard and to be honest I as much as I have read and listened to your web cast I still am not sure I could use SQL without a server. I know I could use SQL 2005 and it would work but I am not clear about the authentications of 2008 without a server and active directory. I cant place them on my active directory on my server because they are test programs I download from Technet and MSDN. So I am trying to find a way to set up a Microsoft authentication in order to run SQL. They only way I am going to learn it to use it. The only way I know how to show you just a couple of concerns regardingthe system setup is to provide you withevent error longs for 2 issues. I need topost the event message and info I have find that may help locate the problem. I am just not sure how to fix them.I However I am sure that these are not the only problems and somehow it musthave something to do with the install.I amonly posting a portion of the Reg entry because of the length but I am sure you can see the issue. SUCH AS: The 1st issue that I had on Vista as well as Windows 7 is with the Broadbcom Ethernet Event error. Event Source: bcm4sbxp Event ID: 4 Description: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. Ok well I have no idea how to correct this because the system is always setup and using a wireless connection. The Broadcom device must be installed in the WIM as well as device manager. Services are set up for wireless usage and not wired. So the only place I find an inconsistency is in the registry entry Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards Class Name: <NO CLASS> Last Write Time: 9/7/2009 - 10:11 PM Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\12 Class Name: <NO CLASS> Last Write Time: 9/7/2009 - 10:11 PM Value 0 Name: ServiceName Type: REG_SZ Data: {A61F76BD-DEB2-4B31-9854-13F978BE4693} Value 1 Name: Description Type: REG_SZ Data: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\8 Class Name: <NO CLASS> Last Write Time: 9/7/2009 - 10:11 PM Value 0 Name: ServiceName Type: REG_SZ Data: {25F3FE6D-A00F-4858-86F1-70231D17ABE9} Value 1 Name: Description Type: REG_SZ Data: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller The 2nd issue shows me that a reinstall would come in handy but if you look at this it starts with the first install down on 09/07/09. I know it has something to so with the language. But I dont know how to correct it. As you can see it is the indexing under my SID which I have left off. Hopefully with your help so I can reinstall the above applications which all deal with .net 3.5, Visual Studio, and SQL in the correct order.I would prefer the versions bind instead of running them side byside. I told you this would be long. Before I close I am going to give you one more item I would like to prevent from happening after a reinstall. I have no information on this other than the event log. Hi, At this time, I would like to suggest the following regarding the issues: 1. Regarding Event ID:4, Broadcom NIC issue, it is recommended that you contact Broadcom to check if this is a known-issue and they have a constructive solution. Broadcom Downloads & Support Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. 2. Event Source: Microsoft-Windows-Search Event ID: 3036 After researching, I found this may be related to Office Outlook 2007, please try the following method to repair Office 2007 and see how it works: Windows Desktop Search 3.0 does not return Outlook 2007 e-mail items, and event ID 3036 is logged in the Application log 3. Source: Microsoft-Windows-CAPI2 Event ID: 4107 Regarding this, I would like to share the following with you: Getting a Load of Event 4107, CAPI2 in the Application Log Event ID 11 Automatic Root Certificates Update Configuration Considering you may have some questions or need some question on installing SQL server and Visual Studio in Windows 7, please also go to our SQL Server Forum and Visual Studio Forum for help. Nicholas,I sincerely apperciate you time and information.I will take the steps you have suggested. With the expecption of the Broadcom issue, I am sure I will find your advice very helpful.I tried to contact Broadcom and Dell regarding this problem some time ago when the event error was on the Vista SP1. As long as the system was running Vista this was not a problem. I had made the assumption that it was due to the type of installation used for the device driver. Due to the major differances from getting away with installing DPInst32 on 32 bit systems which is a Windows XP device installer. Dell still will not change the device installer to DPInst.exe on most of their 32 bit drivers. I have had so many conversations with them about this and the techs just don't understand. It is very hard to contact the engineers who develope the Bios and Driver installs. Sometimes I have a little luck when it becomes a major issue and Microsoft has to get envolved. However as you know 32 bit system are low in on the totem pole so not much is done, just to encourage a new system purchase.Broadcom is also not very easy to work with. So I gave up in the hopes that Windows 7 drivers would help. There never seems to be any block placed on my internet usage. So the only problem I have is deleting the events as much as I can to control the space they take up.Thanks for your help.virgoheart
